Bone Densitometry

Bone Densitometry is the leading diagnostic tool for osteoporosis, which affects a staggering ten million adults in the U.S. alone, 80% of which are women.

Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of the bone tissue, leading to an increased fracture risk; it is particularly devastating because there are no symptoms.

With the current technologies and most advanced equipment, a Bone Mineral Density test can not only measure bone mass, but also indicate if there is any deformity of the vertebrae.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends the Bone Mineral Density test for:

- any woman over 65
- postmenopausal women with fractures
- any women considering hormone replacement therapy.

The Bone Mineral Density test is simple, quick and painless. Your BMD test will give a result called a T-SCORE; if your T-score is less than –1.0, talk to your doctor about treatment options.
