Digital Ultrasound Imaging
Ultrasound imaging, also called sonography, is a
painless and noninvasive procedure to visualize the inside of the
human anatomy through the use of high-frequency sound waves. As the
sound goes through the body, echoes are produced that can be used
to identify how far away an object is, its size and how homogenous
it is. Ultrasound is the most utilized form of diagnostic imaging
after general x-ray, largely because no radiation is involved in ultrasound
imaging.
At Hudson Valley Imaging, we have only the best
state of the art equipment ATL Ultrasound Machine, a highly recognized
world leader in ultrasound systems.
We offer many types of diagnostic ultrasound, abdomen (to include
the gallbladder, liver, spleen, kidneys and aorta), OB/GYN,
vascular (lower and upper extremities), small parts (which include
thyroid, breasts, prostate and testicles), and lastly fine needle
breast aspiration/biopsy.
Many patients have many questions regarding preparations for most
exams, with regards to ultrasound only two exams have necessary preparations,
for an ultrasound of the gallbladder: no food to liquids other than
water 6-8 hours prior to the exam and for any pelvic ultrasound you
need to have your bladder full prior to your exam, we suggest you
drink 32 ounces of water 1 hour prior to your exam.
Ultrasound Imaging is a very safe and has no side effects and is
the preferred imaging modality for diagnosis and monitoring of pregnant
women and their unborn infants.
If you have any questions regarding any ultrasound
procedure please call our facility, our highly trained sonographer
